Biography

Stephanie Thebarge is the Compliance Manager and HIPAA Privacy Officer at New England Cancer Specialists, where she oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of the practice’s compliance programs. With a strong background in healthcare regulations and a deep commitment to patient privacy, Stephanie ensures that the practice adheres to all relevant federal, state, and local laws, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other regulatory requirements.

Stephanie brings over 20 years of experience in healthcare. As the HIPAA Privacy Officer, she is specifically responsible for developing and enforcing policies and procedures to protect patient health information.  She conducts compliance audits, provides training to staff on best practices in patient confidentiality and data security, and ensures that any potential breaches are managed in accordance with regulatory guidelines. 

In addition to her compliance duties, Stephanie oversees provider credentialing and payer contracting, ensuring that the practice maintains proper qualifications and licensure with federal, state and health insurance companies.

Stephanie works closely with the practice’s leadership team to identify potential compliance risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the highest standards of ethical conduct and operational excellence.

Stephanie holds seven AAPC certifications in the following areas of expertise: Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO); Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA); Certified Physician Practice Manager (CPPM); Certified Hematology and Oncology Coder (CHONC); Certified Evaluation & Management Coder (CEMC); Certified Professional Biller (CPB) and Certified Professional Coder (CPC), and is dedicated to fostering a culture of compliance within the organization. Her proactive approach and attention to detail help safeguard the practice’s reputation and support its mission to provide exceptional patient care.
